Tarifa, Campo de Gibraltar, Cádiz, Andalusia, South of Spain Sotogrande
Your note
Tarifa certainly differs from the other localities of the Campo de Gibraltar, being (still) surrounded by nature. This village is located in the southern tip of continental Europe and on its shores meet two seas: the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean.
Tarifa is bordering with the borroughs of Barbate on the northeast and with Algeciras to the east, morevover with Los Barrios to the northeast, Medina Sidonia to the north and Vejer de la Frontera.
It principle income is derived from tourism, wind- and kitesurf and more than 30km of beaches.
Tarifa is winds, Poniente and Levante, hence, surfers paradise.. The village is surrounded by the National Parks of del Estrecho and Los Alcornocales; the view on a clear day to the African coastline is breathtaking.
Of its monuments we point out the Castillo de Guzmán el Bueno of the 10th century, its lovely old town with the cathedral and nice looking houses with narrow streets and alley ways.
From Tarifa excursions are possible on the boat to see whales and dolphins in their natural environment in the straits of Gibraltar.
