The distict of San roque is located on the farthest eastern side of the Cadiz coastline bordering on Los Barrios to the east, Castellar to the north, La Línea de la Concepción to the south and Manilva (Málaga) to the east. Its population is of approx. 30.000 inhabitants and at the end of its district the luxurious urbanisation of Sotogrande is situated.

San Roque is divided into districts. Its population found refuge here during the British invasion of Gibraltar and founded San Roque (Holy Rock..). The different districts have the following names: San Roque casco ( which is the nucleus of the town) Campamento; Puente Mayorga; Guadarranque; Taraguillas; La Estación; Guadiaro; San Enrique de Guadiaro and Torreguadiaro.
On the west of the town is its industrial estate, one of the most important in Spain, situated. Unfortunatly, for the industry here, plenty of contamination of the air as well as of the beaches, most of all the Bay of Algeciras, is tainting the lovely atmosphere of the village San Roque itself.
