One important aspect of La Línea de la Concepción is the fact, that it is bordering with Gibraltar and so witnessed history being made. Today Gibraltar is the neighbour to La Linea and many of the inhabitants there, work in Gibraltar.

La Línea de la Concepción has appr. 70.000 inhabitants, whereby many of them work at the other side of the fence, namely in Gib. It is bordering with San Roque to the north and Gibraltar to the south. History of La Línea de la Concepción developed withing the last three hundred years, basically since the times when Gibraltar was seized and founded. The most important monuments are military buildings like the Fort of Santa Barbara, the Fort of San Felipe and the Fort of San Carlos; of he aera of Felipe III we point out the Torrenueva (one of the towers build to defend the coast all along until Portugal) the three graces and the Monument of the Spanish worker.

The Línea de la Concepción has also an important touristic complex on the eastern side, in the Mediterranean with La Alcaidesa with its golf course and a residential area.
